Hey guys! Sorry it has been so long since I've blogged. But, Daniel was in town from Friday (June 29) to Wednesday (July 4), and that meant blogging took a back seat. Wow, his visit went by way too fast. I also can't believe it is already July. I'm thankful though. I've reached this point in my time away from home (going on 77 days--thats approx 2.5 mths). It feels like I've been gone longer. It feels like its been like 6 months since I've been home. I still have 6 weeks left. I'll make it, but after Daniel's visit, all I wanted to do was pack up and drive home. I was like, yep, I'm ready now. haha. No one said this would be easy. So, moving on from me moping, let's talk about the fun I've had these past 5 days. Friday, June 29, was wow a long day. I woke up early, drove to Reedsport and did a Cormorant count (500+ birds there), then counted their nests (300+), thank goodness I didn't have to count the chicks. Yowza. After the count, I drove to Newport for our lab meeting. It was an exceptional meeting. One of the best I've ever had in my life, granted I don't know that I have had a ton of meetings, but this one was great. We all did our updates, then we went over a paper over Murres. It was a really neat paper, and I had way more to say this time around. It was during this paper discussion that I was reminded why I love science, biology, etc so much. I loved discussing research, and asking questions about it with people who are just as interested as you are. I was like, yeah I'm in the right field. Makes you feel good when you are reminded you are on the right track, the right path. I was unbelievably happy when this thought hit me. haha. Heck yes man! After our meeting, we did data entry work for hours and hours. Not kidding. It was bout 6-7 hours of data work, exporting video, working on our CF cards for our cameras, etc. But, it was great. I am a part of a team of biologists. I don't want it to end. Now, if I could just move Daniel here, I'm complete. :-)
After work, I drove to Portland, checked into our hotel, and basically waited impatiently for Daniel's flight to arrive. His flight didn't arrive until 1045 p.m. It felt like I waited forever. haha. I arrive at the airport and standing there waiting for Daniel, I see a guy I went to high school with. NOT KIDDING!! How freaking small is this world really? I mean, seriously? What are the odds? His name is Josh Hall-->Mom, you might remember him from Fall Creek Falls, he used to come with Patrick Lynn and Noah Jaffe. Anyways, we both made eye contact, and he was like,. Cherry is that you? haha. It was neat to see him. As soon as he walked off, I eyed Daniel walking up. Yeah I did the cheesy run and pummel my husband hug...hahaha! HAPPINESS!!! While I was sooo tired for staying up late after having such a long day, it was sooo worth it all. I don't have any pics from this day, so I will direct you to the next blog post. Yay for Fridays!
