Monday Monday

No case of the Monday's here, well except for the fact I was kind of bummed Danielle left. She was the only other female here, and she was just dang cool. But, knowing she will be back next week, it's all good! So, two new people arrived today. Max and Jeff. Max works for Fish and Wildlife in Colorado, he's in his 50's I think, and kind of a rough and tumble kind of fella. Jeff is a Natural Resources guy with the National Guard of Oregon. Never know the National Guard employed biologists, but apparently they do. Interesting. Anyway, back to the point. Jeff I think is in his 40's or 50's, clean cut, talks A LOT. Both guys are nice. I made some more bow nets, of course. I will not escape making these darn things the entire time I'm here, I promise you. We went out to trap owls, and was really successful despite the fact that it was the windiest day I've had here yet. I mean the winds got up to 40 mph in some areas...seriously?! You should have seen my hair...lol! Also, there was dust in my nose, ears, and mouth. I felt like I just came from a race track. Not a lot of pictures were taken because we went pretty fast due to the high winds. Not many opportunities to take pictures, but I did manage to sneak one or two in. Here ya go..

Jeff and Max in the sunset..haha

So, the female owl that Max is holding....well she's my first catch. Yes, ladies and gents, I got over it that fast, and Monday I reached into a burrow and caught this little girl. However, because of where she was when Max pushed the "plunger" in, her wing got caught underneath it, and I couldn't pull her out. I was terrified of breaking her wing. That was the last thing I wanted to do. So, I asked Max to come and safely get her out since he has handled WAY more wildlife than I have. In the end, she was in great condition and wasn't harmed at all. I was sooo thankful!
